Requiring just a 2-metre room length (skirting board to skirting board), The Desk Bed can transform a small spare bedroom into a work from home office, complete with 1.326 cubic meters of storage space under the desk, all while retaining its function as a spare bedroom.
As the posts can be shortened individually to suit existing floor levels, The Desk Bed can overcome challenging floor conditions which would be prohibitive for a regular single bed – such as boxouts, changes in floor level or uneven floors.
The Desk Bed is constructed using quality components. All beams and posts are made from solid Southern Yellow Pine, from the Southern states of the USA. Southern Yellow Pine is not only an attractive timber for this application, it is also eco-friendly as many Southern Yellow Pine forests are managed sustainably, with harmonised harvesting and replenishment processes.
The desk and mattress support surfaces are incredibly tough and durable 18mm thick hardwood plywood. All elements have been connected together such that The Desk Bed is robust and structurally stable.
We have designed the Desk Bed to accommodate a mattress thickness of up to 200mm. When a 200mm thick mattress is used, the guard rail is a standard 5” (125mm) higher than the top of the mattress, which acts as an effective barrier to ensure the sleeper does not roll out of the bed inadvertently! Consequently, mattresses thicker than 200mm are not recommended.
Caring for your Desk Bed is straightforward. Simply wipe all surfaces with a clean, soft cloth, dampened with a mild detergent solution. Always clean up spills immediately and dry with a soft cloth. Avoid using any acidic or high alkaline based cleaning products, or products containing bleach, ammonia, alcohol or petroleum. Protect the desk surface by using coasters and placemats.
